Earlier this year I made a decision that this summer would be my
"summer of love"
"summer of love"
I funded this summer by being an "independent contractor"selling my photography, nannying, design, personal assisting, life coach, being a socialite and doing jack of all trades kinda stuff! At the begining of summer I was offered a Resident Advisor postion @ Berkeley University in California, my decision to not take the job was due to the fact I was turning 30 in July and I had lined up some stellar plans for the summer and the solid fact I knew that I would never regret the decision.
The posting would be far to long to write in story, so here is a rundown run-on review of my summer!
Ready?.. and were offff, I went to both Boston and NYC's gay pride. Stayed with friends @ Columbia University, Went to a dyke march in Washington square, a rainbow was in the sky, took a picture with the actor aaron eckhart who was taking pictures of us,went to Brooklyn, danced in a super swanky lesbian club till 3:45am, I was one of two males in a room full of 400 ladies, chatted with gogo dancers, got trashed and ate a fish taco with guacamole at 4am,slept 3 hours, watched the parade on 5th ave for 6 hours. Whirlwind of fantastic-ness.
In July, I did cookouts and fireworks for the 4th,turned 30 on the 9th, My dear friend Katie made my birthday amazing from morning till night, had an outstanding birthday party surrounded by friends and fans,it was all magical.
I saw Blondie and Pat Benatar in concert, but got sick and missed The Pretenders! I saw No Doubt,Lady GaGa and Fleetwood Mac. I read alot of books and went to alot of art events and get togethers..Travelled via MA,NY,ME,FL,CT. After 10 years of planning my best friend from College, Robin and I, turned 30 within 3 days of each other, we decided that turning 30, and Woodstock turning 40, we would go to Woodstock. We drove there, went to the museum, rolled around on the field and felt the vibes of the happenings that took place 40 years before.
I then Went to heavens waiting room (Florida) for two weeks and had wonderful moment after moment with my grandparents. I think I gained 8lbs from all the early bird specials and napping and lost another 3lbs from laughing. There were a million other little events and moments that are documented in my mind.. in this summer of love.
This summer truly was the best summer of my life. I feel I have come into myself turning 30. It was a mental and spiritual shift, I closed a decade of outstanding adventures and learning experiences. I have an utterly fantastic group of friends, a wonderful family, I am surrounded by the most enchanting characters and happenings and finally, a whole heart. I look forward to my thirties and only hope for more learning journies. I am so nervous/anxious/excited..
I leave for London on Wednesday evening, September 16th @ 9pm. I arrive @ heathrow airport the next day at 11:30am, where I will then take a 2 hour train north to Nottingham.. when I arrive there, I will sit in a shire and write my memoirs... Write you next from England!
